Sketches
Upon coming to the Berkshires I was enamored by certain buildings that are
particularly well suited to the landscape. Bascom Lodge atop Mount Greylock has a
beautiful ruggedness and intimate scale. St. James in Stockbridge is a robust
Romanesque church of modest scale, softly carved in limestone and timber. More
recently, the Fisher Science Center at The College of Simon’s Rock has an earthy and
playful quality built of concrete and laminated beams strapped together with
galvanized steel. |
